The sprocket tooth refers to the tooth profile structure on the sprocket that matches the 05B chain. The 05B chain is a kind of imperial standard roller chain with a pitch of 8 millimetres.

Dimensional Parameters

The basic dimensions of the 05B sprocket tooth depend on the number of teeth of the sprocket. For example, a 10-tooth 05B sprocket has a tooth thickness of approximately 2.8 millimetres. Sprockets with different numbers of teeth will have corresponding changes in parameters such as addendum circle diameter, root circle diameter, and pitch circle diameter. Taking a 23-tooth 05B sprocket as an example, its outer diameter is 62 millimetres, the pitch circle diameter is 58.75 millimetres, and the tooth width is 2.8 millimetres.

Tooth Profile Design

The tooth profile of the 05B sprocket usually adopts a standard involute tooth profile or circular arc tooth profile to ensure good meshing with the rollers and bushings of the 05B chain, achieving smooth transmission. This tooth profile design can reduce the impact and wear between the chain and the sprocket, improving transmission efficiency and service life.

Material Selection

It is usually made of high-quality carbon structural steel, such as medium carbon steel C45, through stamping, forming and gear milling processes. To enhance the wear resistance and strength of the sprocket teeth, the entire sprocket will undergo quenching and tempering heat treatment. For occasions requiring higher tooth end strength and wear life, the tooth part will be subjected to hardening treatment.

Manufacturing Process
